States of Matter

Today, in Year 5 we have been learning about States of Matter and so we did an investigation on gases. We wanted to see if gases weighed anything.  We compared the weight of carbon dioxide in different fizzy drinks. We measured each drink before, shook the drink for 30 seconds before releasing the cap allowing the carbon dioxide to escape into the blue glove.  Then we weighed the drink again - measuring the difference in weight. The more carbon dioxide that escaped the more puffed up the glove became!
