Investigating the colour spectrum

To finish off our study of light, We investigated what white light is made up of.

We looked at the pixels on the whiteboard (which are very small!) and noticed that they are all red, green and blue. Then we coloured in a paper disc in these colours (using protractors to make sure our segments were exactly thirds of the disc). When the disc was spun around, it was possible to notice that the colours blended together and appeared white.

Coincidentally, it was on this afternoon that the remnants of hurricane Ophelia passed over London changing the quality and colour of the light outside. We went outside to have a look at this and were joined by Year R. The photo really doesn’t do it justice!
